On Monday 5th March, the event which many of us anticipated but hoped would never happen occurred near the entrance to the Four Lanes schools.
An 8 year old child was involved in an accident with a car in Hanmore Road and had to be taken to hospital. Thankfully the injuries sustained were in relation to a broken leg, but obviously the damage could have been much worse. As it happens, the car involved in the accident was not driven by a commuter from the industrial park, but that does not detract from the fact that an already dangerous situation is being made worse by the massive increase in traffic volumes down Hanmore Road; a situation which is only going to get worse.
Hopefully, Hampshire County Council will soon react to local pleas for some sort of improved traffic management both at the schools and exiting the business parks.
