Barrier Up & Downs

The traffic barrier at the entrance to the Four Lanes schools has now been installed.

barrier to Four Lanes school
At the time of writing, restrictions do not apply, but from week commencing 5 November, visitors to the site during school hours will only be able to exit by using a swipe card or token. The swipe card will be issued to full time staff, whilst tokens are available from either school office for all legitimate car park users. Trespassers will also have to seek a token from a school office, but priority at busy times will be given to school administration matters.

New patterns of parking on nearby roads are already emerging and hopefully there will be no repetition of past appalling behaviour where parents have parked in front of private driveways and, on a couple of occasions, even on the driveways.

Parents and carers bringing children to the schools in a car are reminded that the Chineham Arms landlords have very kindly made their car park available for short term parking when dropping children off at the the schools. There is a safe walking route from the pub to the schools, although one does have to cross Hanmore Road. A scheme of yellow lining is under serious consideration for the area.
