Basingstoke Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Wade Road has been expanded and improved.
The new, larger HWRC was completed in March 2006. The site now has more bins, double the number of parking spaces, increased recycling facilities and suggestion is that it's quicker and easier to use than the previous site.
The expanded HWRC can accept all of the following items for recycling:
- bulky household waste (Furniture, Fridges,DIY items etc)
- green garden waste
- metal
- gas bottles
- hazardous household waste (e.g. garden pesticides)
- household batteries
- soil and rubble (car boot full only)
- cement bonded asbestos
- wood
- newspapers and magazines
- glass bottles and jars
- food tins and drinks cans
- textiles
- engine oil
- car batteries
- tyres.

The opening hours for the HWRC site are:
8am - 7pm from 1 April to 30 September
8am - 4pm from 1 October to 31 March.
It will be open every day, except 25 and 26 December and 1 January.
Basingstoke HWRC continues to be operated by the appointed private contractor, Veolia Environmental Services Hampshire, on behalf of Hampshire County Council.
The site is for household waste only Commercial, Industrial or Trade waste will not be permitted.
