Housing Access Outrage

Just when you think that all sites for development in Chineham have now already been built on or at least identified, up pops a surprise.  No, "surprise" is the wrong word, let's say shock. The residents of Fox's Furlong, and to a lesser extent in Stockbridge Close, are facing the possibility of another 15 houses being accessed off their roads.

Such a proposal was never envisaged in any of the long term or outline plans for this part of Chineham. The potential outrage is made worse by the fact that the proposal is only viable because of the existence of a play area and public open space at the top end of Fox's Furlong.

Not surprisingly, nearby residents are extremely concerned about this application, both because of the significant increase in traffic which would result (through an already challenging and congested route) and the loss of a cohesive area of open space much in use - in great safety - by local children.
An added touch of irony is that whilst the burden would apply to the Chineham infrastructure, the houses would actually be located in Sherfield-on-Loddon.
