Check Your Driving Licence
If you received one of the lastest photo-card type driving licences then check the expiry date!
It seems that the new style licences are only valid for ten years and there is a renewal fee of £17.50. |
|
According to the DVLC over four thousand of these licences - issued from the start date of July 1998 - have yet to be renewed which may indicate that there are persons on the road oblivious to the fact that they are driving without a valid licence.
There is a fine payable for driving without a licence of £1000 so if you or your loved ones have been driving for only around ten years then check the licence now! [jw 10.10.08]
Daisy's Farm Fresh Milk
It's unusual for me to find something on the doorstep but the other day I did. There before me was a pint glass bottle of milk complete with the essential foil top!
As I stood there with childhood memories flooding back all that my kiddies could do was say 'Wow!', followed swiftly by, 'what's that doing there?' So there I was explaining about milk bottles and then about milkmen.
Daisy, from the title, is a cow and the milk actually comes from Lyde Green Farm in Rotherwick. They are delivering their bottles of milk to the area Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday's at a cost of 42p per pint. (There are larger plastic carton options available starting at 40p per pint.)
Also deliverable are free range eggs, cream and fairtrade orange juice.
If you fancy taking your own trip down memory lane, buying something else local and of course enjoying the milk then call James or Helen Hague on (01256) 881986.

Upon booking request a licence number, this can then be checked with the Council's Licensing Team on 01256 845 474 and on the night a driver should show his licence, licence plate and drivers badge.
Drivers are reminded that without the correct licence in place an offence is being committed.
