Chineham Youth Zone

There has been much discussion about both the location and equipping of the Binfields Leisure Area.  That a leisure facility of some nature would be located in the area at the end of Binfields Farm Lane has been established since the time that the county council first submitted a outline planning application for the Binfields Development Area at large.
It is very unfortunate that the borough council is now only progressing this once most of the houses have been occupied.  Even though such proposals should be highlighted if people purchasing houses ask for a search beyond their curtiledge, any level of confusion is removed if the facility already exists when people move in. That said, this route does allow for consultation with people who are living in the immediate facility and thus likely to be the highest users. In response to a request on this in the Spotlight Forum, we are posting a plan of the facilities as most recently published and shown at the drop-in session earlier this year.  It must be emphasised that this plan has been further modified as a result of residents' representation and Spotlight long ago make clear that the plans are felt to be a disappointment in the eyes of the Spotlight team.

As notified previously in this column, a borough officer will be bringing a revised plan to the Annual Parish Assembly which will be held in Christ Church on Monday 19 May, commencing at 2000.   Additionally, the borough council has arranged for a further two drop-in sessions to take place at Christ Church between the hours of 1800 and 2100 on both 10th and 11th of June.  Furthermore, an electronic consultation opportunity will exist on the borough council's website.
Hopefully, with all this further public engagement, it will be possible to reach a compromise to the satisfaction of most – if not all – residents, both close to the facility and further afield
